Bob Hanneken won the 10th East Side Amateur Sunday in a playoff with past Metropolitan Amateur Champion, Eli Grant. Grant and Hanneken, who captured the Amateur division of the Publinx Open at Forest Park earlier this year, would complete 34 holes at 1-under par.
The playoff went back to the 9th Hole at Lockhaven Golf Club, where Hanneken had a 12-foot birdie putt to put away the title. However, a 3-putt from that distance would extend the playoff. On to the 10th Hole, where Hanneken again put it in tight and would two putt for the victory.
