Berkmeyer Leads Coleman Invitational

One of the very best amateur events all year long played on the last great private course designed by Donald Ross. The course, not long by today’s standards, lies hard by the Atlantic Ocean. Oceanic winds and very fast greens give this course teeth. Ben Hogan once said “If you can play Seminole, you can play any course in the world.”

Skip Berkmeyer followed his opening-round 66 up with a Friday 72 and leads by two shots entering the final round of play at the 2013 Coleman Invitational at Seminole Golf Club.

After a Thursday 66, Berkmeyer led by one over Parker Smith and was three shots up on Mike McCoy. He was able to keep pace with a surging leaderboard and remain at the top entering the finale.

McCoy shot 71 on Friday and is alone in second place while Kris Mikkelsen and Tim Jackson, the defending champion, sit five back of the leader.

R.J. Nakashian (71-73) is alone in fifth place while Stephen Summers, Ryan Abbate, John Engler and Parker Smith are all tied for sixth place.

The talented leaderboard is packed at prestigious Seminole Golf Club for the final round of play at the Coleman. Other golfers that remain in contention include: Kevin Marsh, Patrick Christovich, Gary Nicklaus, Scott Harvey and many others.
