The Nationally ranked Missouri Tigers are showcasing front and center why they are considered to be a team with National Championship chances.

Played at The Club at Old Hawthorne, head coach Mark Leroux’s team has five players among the Top 15 after 36 holes and junior Emilio Cuartero (-7) is leading the tournament by two shots over Austin Peay’s Dustin Korte (-5).

Cuartero was outstanding this afternoon firing sub-70 rounds of 68-69 and is looking for his second tournament title of the spring season. Second on the team in scoring average, Cuartero already owns five Top 10 finishes this year and looks to be in position for his first career C.O.G. title.

Not to be overlooked is defending champion Ryan Zech (-4). The sophomore from Kearney, Mo., shot consecutive rounds of 70 and is just three shots behind Cuartero as he looks to become the first repeat champion in event history.

Jace Long and Hunter Kraus are also among the Top 10. Both players are tied for eighth overall with 2-under-par scores. Long shot back-to-back rounds of 71, while Kraus shot 68-74 and looks for his second Top 10 finish of the 2012-13 season.

Tommie Wuennenberg earned the Top-Five nod for Leroux on Monday and was even par, shooting 74-70 to tie for 15th.

Mizzou (-19) also had three individuals in action, led by Jacob Fair. The freshman shot 73-69 and is 2-under-par for the tournament, tied for eighth. Brad Moody is 12th at 1-under-par and Dakyn Dollensis tied for 61st.

Austin Peay (-3) is 16 shots behind the Tigers in second place and Washington State (+1) is third.
